I LOVE A DEAL...

I have been lusting after Kip & Co bedding for about a year now. When I was purchasing bedding for my littles room it was at the top of my list. It's expensive. I mean, really expensive to me. At the time, they were not carrying twin size so that made my decision a little easier. I purchased Hedgehog and Squirrel bedding from NORD home and do love it.

Ding ding. Guess what? Urban Outfitters is now carrying a line of bedding by one of my favorite artists of all time, Ashly G. This bedding is amaze-balls and has the same feel as Kip & Co bedding. Colorful, artistic, and most important to me...unique. Take a gander yourself...what are your thoughts? Don't they give off the same vibe?

Kip & Co bedding. Duvet cover alone is $229 (then you throw in overseas shipping...)

Ashley G Char-Bea Bedding $110

RIGHT?

Things to love...and possibly buy

All via Etsy. I'm way too lazy to post sources. So, if it's possible someone is reading and would like a source I would be happy to give it to you.

It was this guys birthday. I like him a lot these days.

I love how my littles adore each other...and isn't their big sis a great photographer?

Olive really captures the best moments with them.

Speaking of Olive...

Hope your weekend was this exciting.

Moving Sucks! continued....

Yep. It sure does. However, starting over in a new fox den does have some positives. We are certainly downsizing and that is NOT a negative in my book. My doing this it is calling into question the way I use my home. The style I want our spaces to be. Comfort and esthetics need to meet face to face and agree. I only want things that I love or that are useful in my home. All this being said I will be getting rid of a lot of things I once thought very important. I will replace them with a few key purchases that will tie my vision for our home.

Recent purchases for the new family room...

The moroccan shag rug that you see in every designer/blogger home these days. I'm honestly not following a trend on this one. The rug really fits with our lifestyle and the need for comfort on the new hardwood flooring being installed next week.

This purchase is a case in which patience and lack of funds has paid off. The original rug is from West Elm for around 900 beans for a 5x7. WAY too rich for my blood. Rugs USA has had several similar and viable options for much less plus they often offer 50-75% off. I waited. And waited. And waited. The one I wanted was constantly out of stock. I called them. I emailed them. I basically stalked them. Then, one day, nine months later...this beauty appeared. And, at 50% off I got a smokin good deal on an 8x10 room sized rug. Hip hooray!

Next up is lighting for over the dining room.

Our new home has low ceilings. I mean really low. I'm used to a 22 foot high great room so the 8 foot ceilings feel like they are caving in on me. A low profile flush mount was called for. I don't usually gravitate toward an industrial look but the minimalist feel of this fixture is perfect for the space. I don't want the lighting to overtake the room and make it appear smaller. So this foot the bill for that reason as well as price. Hard to find a light fixture for $150, but I did. I'm getting the cord in gold just to glam it up a bit.

I'll be back to share more on our downsizing adventure.

Meet the Saplings

My alpha. My Olive. Thirteen going on twenty five. Funny smart & stylish. Wears my clothes daily...URGHH! Has an enormous appetite despite being a rail.

The quintessential middle child. Stella Bleu {Bleu}. Five. Just five. Spunky, spirited, and starting to turn a corner in being actually tolerable despite her incessant talking. Her energy is intoxicating and she literally glows with happiness most always.

Here he is. Our little Dash dude. A tiny three. He may be small but he sure is mighty. So glad he came along despite my best effort at saying I was done. He is the omega and baby of our tribe. We adore the heck out of him

I will be using all instagram photos on this blog for lack of a better reason than it's easy and always right there.  If you're looking for fancy schmancy photography skills you have wandered onto the wrong blog. This is about being real. Not creating editorials of my daily life. Hope you'll stay anyway.

Welcome Kinfolk & Tribe Mates Alike

Starting another blog is not something I thought I'd ever do. And yet, here I am.

What blogging has provided for me in the past was a place to showcase how I was slowly cultivating a beautiful life for my family. My tribe. What it unintentionally did was create needs that didn't exist before. Cause me to wonder "how will this look on my blog", etc. It became somewhat competitive as I watched what other bloggers were doing and unintentionally compared myself to them.  I started a business, I purchased things that really didn't work for our style of living, and I constantly sought bettering our home.

What I would like for this blog is to be a record of truths. Beautiful or ugly. Our tribe is repairing after several unsettling years. I'll get into a little more of that eventually. My mother wants to see her grandchildren so you'll see plenty of the saplings...Olive Bleu & Dash. You'll see photos of my home in disrepair and lovely lived in spaces.

I will talk about personal stuff. But not everything. I will always keep a little something just for us.

Welcome. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy our journey to simplifying. Our tribe may be down but we are certainly not out.

Amy
